James Earl Mcgettigan

James “Earl” McGettigan, Sr. 88 of Wellington, OH, formerly of Westover, WV, went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2017.

The son of the late Harry D. and Julia Wenck McGettigan was born April 20, 1928 in Cassville, WV.

Earl was a WW II veteran of the United States Navy. He was Methodist by faith and a member of Riverside United Methodist Church. Earl was a custodian for the Morgantown school board for 8 years and a meat cutter for Thoroughfare Market. He was an avid golfer, a longtime member of Meadow Ponds Country Club and loved going dancing at the VFW. Earl was easy to laughter and made friends at the drop of hat.

Earl leaves behind his wife and sweetheart of 60 years, Deloris ‘Dolly’ McGettigan; two sons, Mark Allen McGettigan of Cross Lanes, WV and James Earl McGettigan of South Weber, Utah; four grandchildren, Patrick McGettigan of Morgantown, WV, Kaitlyn McGettigan of Syracuse, Utah, Kellie McGettigan of St. Albans, WV, and Michelle McGettigan of Westover, WV; one great grandson, Colin Dawson, a sister, Louise McGettigan; a niece, Nancy Werdebaugh and many close friends.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by two brothers, William Francis McGettigan and Harry McGettigan; and two sisters, Martha Lattimer and Olive Carr.

Family and friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Monday, February 20, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and again on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from noon until the 1 pm service with Pastor Gina Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
