James Albert ‘Jim’ Johnson, 67, of Morgantown, passed away on Friday Jan. 20, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 7, 1950 in Morgantown, only son to the late Rev. Elmo Gay Johnson and Georgia Ruth Burbridge Johnson.
Jim was a retired bricklayer and stone mason and loved the comradery of his fellow masons. Jim was also a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Lynn Mathess Johnson, sons Aaron Johnson and wife Angie Joy Johnson and Daniel Johnson all of Morgantown; his cherished granddaughters, Olivia and Georgia Belle; one sister Pat Fields and husband Marvin of Morgantown; sister-in-law Brenda Kay Mathess-Linkous and husband Edmund of Columbia, SC; nephews, Joe Sewash and wife Donna of Raleigh, NC, Patrick Fields of Morgantown; nieces, Christina Sewash of Lewisville, OH, Jennifer Sewash-Schetz and husband Dave and great nieces, Abigail and Sophia Schetz all of Westminster, MD.
In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by his infant sister, Joann, sister Mary Sewash and her husband George.
Honoring Jim’s wishes, there will be no services and cremation was provided by the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank all of Jim’s Friends for the phone calls and dropping by to visit with him throughout his illness. He really enjoyed sitting and chatting with his garage buddies. His family appreciates all the friends and family members for their support in their time of grief.
