James W. Elli, Sr.

James W. Elli, Sr., 81 of the Uffington Community, Morgantown passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at his home. He was born December 8, 1935 in Uffington, son of the late Wendell V. and Ila B. Kinsley Elli.

James worked for a short time at Morgantown Florist and then retired from Sterling Faucet with more than 39 years of service. He was also a Veteran of the US Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. After retiring in 1996, James enjoyed his time tinkering on several projects around the house or anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Janet Sue Foy Elli; two daughters, Julie Strosnider and husband Junie and Lisa Fields and husband Raymond; one brother Richard Elli and wife Janie; sister Marylou Payne and husband Bob; ten grandchildren, Stacy, CJ, Christina, Wendell, Jason, Nathan, James, Randy, Matthew and Wesley; 14 great grandchildren, Zack, Jacob, Kevin, Hailey, Amber, Amie, Charlie, Danica, Cole, Kelsey, Jazmin, Kalea, Maggie and Sofia. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Joann Foy, Juanita Price, Nancy Billie, Debra Grimes and Becky Reckart.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, James ‘Butch’ Elli, Jr.; daughter, Sherry Elli Stewart; great granddaughter Brittany Kelly; sister, Doris Perkins; mother and father-in-law, Lillian and Emery Foy and brothers-in-law, James, Randy and Norman Foy and John C. Price.

Family will receive friends at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 6 to 8pm and again on Wednesday from noon until time of services at 1pm with Pastor Gary Devart officiating. James will be laid to rest at the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
