James Russell ‘Jim’ Costello, 69, of Summer School Road, Morgantown, WV, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born June 15, 1954, a son of the late Mary Costello Woody.

In addition to his mother, Jim was preceded in death by his step-father Lonny Woody; a brother Leroy Bolyard; an uncle Dale Costello; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Rev. Ernest and Mildred Frymyer, who he thought of as his parents.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47years, Joanna Lee Costello, and their three children Ernest ‘Spero’ Costello and wife Melisa, Christina ‘Chrissy’ and husband Gary Lazzelle, Eric Costello and wife Patty; seven grandchildren Kristen Gifford, Ernest Costello, Jr., Joshua ‘J.J.’ Costello, Jayna Costello, Gary ‘Bub’ Lazzelle, Jr., Ethan Costello, and Charles ‘Russ’ Lazzelle; three great grandchildren Aubree, Scarlett, and Ardyn Gifford; and his sister Linda Nicholson.

Jim was last employed at Joey Montrose Trucking until he was no longer able to work. He also devoted 54 years to the Cool Springs VFD and the community it serves. Jim was a family man through and through and cared deeply for his kids and grandkids. He was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to gather at The Lighthouse Cathedral 2803 Kingwood Pike, Morgantown, WV 26508 on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 2pm – 8pm and again on Tuesday from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 2pm with Pastor Jon Henry and Brother Buford Lunsford officiating. Following the service, Jim will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
