James Donald Carpenter

December 25, 1942 — January 7, 2018

James Donald Carpenter, 75, of Rolling Hills went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by his family at home on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018.

James or Uncle Duck to his nieces and nephews, was born Dec 25, 1942, son to the late Russell and Dorotha Carpenter.

He was a faithful member of the National New Life Church of God. James loved to sing for the Lord. He was an avid fan of WVU and Steelers football and Pirates baseball.

James is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sondra Shumiloff Carpenter; two brothers Arnold Carpenter and Chuck and wife Gladys Carpenter all of Sandusky OH; sister Scharlet Rumer of Castalia OH; sisters-in-law Dot Shumiloff, Rebecca and husband Bill Page of Morgantown, Kaye and husband Sam Saylor of Bruceton Mills and Charles and wife Rose Shields of Granville. Also surviving are nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved, Matthew Shumiloff, Andrew Page, William Saylor, Sterling Rumer, Gene Rumer, Lavinda and husband Rich Ross, Kayla Page and fiancé Michael Glowacky, Teresa and husband Doug Robison; 10 great nieces and nephews and three great-great nieces and nephews and one arriving in June; many other family and friends including his church family.

In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by his stepmother, Pauline Carpenter, father-in-law and mother-in-law William ‘Lefty’ & Betty Shumiloff and brother-in-law Gene Rumer.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 11am until time of services at 1pm with Pastor William Page officiating. Burial will follow at the East Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice and Companion Care for taking such wonderful care of James.
