James Leon Brown

February 15, 1951 — August 15, 2021

James L. Brown, 70 of Greensboro, PA, formerly of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at the J.W. Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his children. James was born February 15, 1951, son to Tiff and Annabelle Lewis Brown. James worked in the coal mines for many years. After retiring from the coal mines, he operated his own business delivering equipment all across the country. Following the unexpected death of his wife Cathy in 2018, James settled his affairs and hit the open road. He hooked up to his camper and headed south to Georgia and the Carolinas. His love of fishing would call him to the water’s edge, where he set up camp and fished the day away. He lived for today, not worried about tomorrow. James knew only one way to be, himself. He told you what he thought, but never out of anger or malice. He had a booming voice, a beautiful smile, and a kind heart. If he was your friend, it was to the end. He was loyal, ornery, and genuine. He never claimed to be perfect but learned from his imperfections and tried to make the best of any situation. He was a friend to many, loved by more, and will be missed by all. He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy, one son Garrett Brown, Jr. and wife Christina of Greensboro, PA; three daughters, Tammy Brown Huff and husband Larry of Davistown, PA, Veronica Eddy of Greensboro, PA and Angela Boggs and husband Lenard of Cedar Rapids, IA; nine grandchildren, Derek and Brandon Brown of Greensboro, PA, David and Oliva ‘Libby’ Spitznogle of Spraggs, PA, Meghan and Haden Eddy of Greensboro, PA, Sharaden, Abigail ‘Abby’ and Dory Boggs all of Cedar Rapids, IA. Also surviving are his siblings, Hunton ‘Tom’ Brown and wife Darlene, Virginia Ruth Rowan and husband Willard ‘Itsie’, William O. ‘Bill’ Brown and companion Cindy, Agnes ‘Gen’ Yatsko, M. ‘Joe’ Brown and wife Brenda, Mike Brown and wife B.J., Connie Chambers and husband Mark and David Brown and wife Edna and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Cathy Keener Brown; an infant daughter, Kimberly; parents Tiff and Annabelle Brown; brothers, Johnl Brown, Carry Lewis, sister, Rose Dalton, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 4-8 PM and again on Friday from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM with his brother-in-law Willard ‘Itsie’ Rowan officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Bethel Cemetery.
