Hester H. Goodwin

November 28, 1925 — March 9, 2010

Hester Goodwin, 84 of the Grafton Rd., Morgantown passed away Tuesday March 9, 2010 at her home. She was born November 28, 1925 in Thornton, WV daughter of the late Curtis J. and Ada Funk Gibson. Hester was a homemaker for many years and Methodist by faith. She had many hobbies including playing card games, shopping with the girls and loved animals. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all of her family who cherished every moment with her. Her love for her children and grandchildren was a blessing for all of those she touched in her life. Her smile, her beauty and her laughter will be with us all forever. She is survived by her son, Lawrence Johnson of Morgantown and the late Joann Johnson; daughters Mary Hiser and husband Harry Hiser, Jr., of the Grafton Rd., Joann Mathess and husband Bill Mathess and Susie Bosley and the late Ray Bosley all of Morgantown. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; brothers Kenneth ‘Bud’ Gibson of Ohio, Arnold Gibson of Kingwood, WV; sisters-in-law Marie Jean Gibson of Masontown, WV, Myrtle Goodwin and Hazel Summers both of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Hester was preceded in death by her first husband Otis Johnson; infant son Gary Lee Johnson; second husband James Goodwin, Sr.; son James Goodwin, Jr., brother Roy Gibson and sister Leota Riley. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Thursday March 11, from 2-4 and 6-8pm and again on Friday from 12:30 until time of services at 1:30 with Pastor Craig Falkenstine officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Masontown, WV. The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Arthurs and Nurse Beth, who were wonderful with our mother and grandmother.
