Herbert N. "Bud" Sopuch, 69, of Canyon Village, Morgantown, WV, went home to the Lord on Friday, May 15, 2015. The son of the late Albert J. Sopuch and Jessie B. Wells Reese, he was born July 9, 1945, in Farmington, WV. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, and a 1964 graduate of Morgantown High School. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict. Bud was twice awarded the Purple Heart. Next to Jesus Christ he loved his Country and Flag. His mottos were, "Love It or Leave It!" and " Our Country was Founded on The Principles of Christianity". He was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans and Life Member of The Military of the Purple Heart. He always believed West Virginia was the Greatest and most beautiful state in the Land of the Free. He loved fishing and hunting, and just to be in the great outdoors. He was a life member of the North American Fishing Club. He loved to read, research family and West Virginia History. He loved life and lived it to its fullest. He worked at the Federal Correctional Institution (Kennedy Center) as a correctional officer and employee development specialist for 22 and a half years. He worked for Sterling Faucet, Colshire Manufacturing, Progressive Industries, in Morgantown and Bridgeton Dyeing and finishing, NJ. He was a Police Officer in New Jersey, a volunteer EMT for the Upper Deerfield Ambulance Association and Seabrook Fire Department. He instructed wrestling and archery at the Greater Bridgeton Area YMCA. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ with a passion. He is survived by three daughters: Christine D. Sopuch of Booth, Janet L. Rowan and husband, Chuck, of Booth, and Patricia S. Renner and husband John of Westover; six grandchildren: Jerry Lee Wilkins, Jr. and wife Brianna, Peyton Dawn Hall and fiancé Matt Cost, Travis Donlee Renner, Ashton Albert Sopuch, Matthew Robert Renner and Coby Michael Renner; one great-grandson, Jerry Lee Wilkins III; one sister Rose Ann Moats and husband, Thomas, of Seabrook, NJ; two brothers, Franklin D. Sopuch, of Montgomery, AL and Edward J. Reese and wife, Debbie of Laurel Point; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother in law, Bernice Sprouse and his step father, Floyd G. Reese. Family and friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Jeff Huggins officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place at the Veterans National Cemetery, Pruntytown, WV. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
