Herbert Gene Roby, Sr

Herbert G. Bud' Roby, Sr., 86 of Chaplin, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday February 14, 2012. He passed peacefully after a short illness at the Mapleshire Nursing Home with his family and friends by his side. He was born June 17, 1925, the son of the late Orden S. and Minnie M. Roby. Bud was a member of the Riverside Apostolic Church, Westover. He was a retired coal miner having worked at the Christopher Coal Company in Osage and also the Chapel Coal Company in Kingwood, WV. He also was an employee of WVU. Bud is survived by his wife Carolyn McCrobie Roby, whom he married on July 31, 1946, a son Herbert G. (Gene) Roby, Jr and his wife Margie Roby of Bruceton Mills, WV; a daughter Janice Roby Flowers and her husband Ralph D. Flowers of Morgantown ,WV. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren Jason Roby, Melodie Reese, Scott Roby and Jennifer Dalton; 10 great grandchildren Brianna Dalton, Aiden Roby, Mykell Reese, Gentry Reese, Garet Reese, Michah Reese, Nathan Roby, Lily Roby, Emma Roby and Grace Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Evelyn Clark and 3 brothers Stanley Roby, Francis Roby and James Roby. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and again on Saturday from 11am until the time of services at 12 noon with Rev. David M. Hudson and Rev. Daniel B. Bayles officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Cemetery, Pentress, WV.
