Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Donald "Donnie" Ray Hinkle; sister Loretta Alice (Williams) Reeder; her infant son, Frankie Sturgeon; her son-in-law William Stewart; her oldest son, William Edward Wilson Jr.; her youngest daughter, Hollie Renee Stuyvesant.
She is survived by her husband, John, and her children, Christina Gerard and husband Franklin, Joseph Wilson and wife Lorilie, Jeffery Sturgeon and wife Amanda, Alicia Stewart and daughter in law Michelle Wilson. Helen was a devoted grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply. She found immense joy in their laughter, their milestones, and every moment she spent with them. Helen also found joy and comfort in keeping connected with her friends and family throughout the years.
Since the passing of her daughter Hollie in 2021, Helen did her best to care for her grandchildren, Donald Ray Stuyvesant and Aubrey Stuyvesant, during a difficult time. Though faced with challenges, she stepped in as only a mother could, offering them all she could while loving and supporting them in the way she knew best.
Helen’s kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family were at the core of who she was. Whether through her comforting presence, her generous heart, or the way she put others before herself, she left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who had the privilege of loving her.
