Helen Stephens Montagliani, 78, died peacefully at the home of her daughter Amelie on Monday, October 5, 2020, surrounded by her family.
Helen was born on October 3, 1942, in Toronto, OH, and was the 6th of eight children born to Doss and Majore Weidner Stephens. Helen graduated from Morgantown High School in 1960 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from WVU in 1963.
In 1965 she married Ernie Montagliani, and they moved to Washington DC, where Helen enjoyed a career as a survey statistician at the United States Census Bureau. In 1991, she moved back to West Virginia with her family and worked as a medical researcher for NIOSH until her retirement.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ernie Montagliani.
She is survived by her daughter, Amelie James (Trey) of Milton, Georgia; her son, Christian Montagliani of Dallas, TX; and her step-daughter, Victoria Tenney (Steve) of Daytona Beach, Florida. She was a wonderful grandmother to Marshall James (13), Ashlyn James (12), Scarlett James (10), Brenna James (8), Isabella Montagliani (2), and Ashley Grace Tenney (19), all of whom miss her greatly. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Mae King (Bill) of Morgantown, and many nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
Helen's request for cremation has been honored. A graveside memorial service for friends and family will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
One of her greatest joys in life was pouring into her 18+ Al-Anon sponsees. In her honor, donations may be made to her favorite meeting, Peace and Serenity AFG, Saint Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, Georgia, 30022
