Heidi Patricia Putman-Casdorph

Heidi Patricia Putman-Casdorph, 46, of Morgantown passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 following a long term illness. A loving mother and wife she was born, October 9, 1967 in Somerset, PA the daughter of Glenn and Barbara Putman of Stoystown, PA. A 1986 graduate of North Star High School, Heidi went on to earn undergraduate and graduate nursing degrees at St. Francis College in 1990 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1994. In 1995, she began her teaching career at Allegheny College. She went on to earn a doctorate in nursing from Weidner University in 2002. Heidi dedicated herself to a career in nursing, nursing research and nursing education. Heidi had been working as an Associate Professor at West Virginia University since 2002. She was a Certified Asthma Educator and was researching asthma in rural populations. In addition to her parents, Heidi is survived by her husband Van A. Casdorph and son Hayden C. Casdorph; mother and father-in-law, Kenneth G. and Donna S. Casdorph of Charleston, WV; sister and brother-in-law, Dennis and Marcy Thomas of Elkview, WV. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday January 22, 2014 from 6pm until 9pm. Funeral services will be held at the Deaner Funeral Home 133 E. Main Street, Stoystown, PA on Thursday, January 23. Burial will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown, PA. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the WVU School of Nursing and the Mon General nursing staff for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations may be made in Heidi's memory to either the American Lung Association (http://www.lung.org/)or to the WVU Foundation for Nursing Research Scholarship at P.O.
