Hazel Beryl Summers

October 4, 1930 — June 3, 2015

Hazel B. Summers, 84, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at the Mapleshire Nursing Home in Morgantown. She was born October 4, 1930 in Morgantown, daughter to the late Oakey and Linnie Goodwin. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a committed Christian and long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church and later in life, the Suncrest United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son and wife, David and Judith K. Summers; daughter Judy and husband George Leydig; two grandchildren, David Summers and Summer Leydig and her fiancé Craig Dodson. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and helping others. Hazel enjoyed her friends and especially her faith, attending her church and frequently visiting nursing homes and hospitals to help care for loved ones and dear friends. Her family would like to thank all of the family and friends that helped provide such support in her final years. The family would also like to extend gratitude to the staff of Mapleshire Nursing Home for all of their excellent and compassionate care. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Howard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters; George, Ralph, Ellis, Jimmie, Ervin, Verl, Bernard, Olive, Goldie, Alice, Evelyn, Mildred, and Hilda. Family and friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Friday, June 5 from 4-8pm and again on Saturday, June 6, from 10am until the time of service at 11am with Reverend Tim Halloran officiating.
