Hazel Virginia Echard

Hazel Virginia Echard, 81 beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Thursday January 28, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Hazel was born January 29, 1928 in Morgantown daughter of the late Lloyd and Bessie Smith. Hazel worked as a cook for the Monongalia County Board of Education for more than 30 years. Hazel and her husband Allen always looked forward to spending the summer at their Wapocoma Camp Ground in Romney, WV. She was also an avid bowler, and would feed anyone who came to her door. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the Avery United Methodist Church. Hazel is survived by her husband of 64 years, Allen H. Echard; daughters, Joyce Ann Wassick and husband Dan Wassick, Sr. of Bruceton Mills, formerly of Cheat Lake, Brenda Bowers of Tallahassee, FL; son Allen L. Echard of Reedsville, WV; daughter-in-law Karen Echard Rice of Morgantown; grandchildren, Leah and Rob Jackovich, Wendy and Rich Zierer, Dan Wassick, Jr. and Kim Wassick, Kirk and Nicole Wassick, Kelli and Bobby Teets, Tami and Robbie Davis, Holli Echard and Donny Kisner, Laci Echard, Farrah Echard and Kyle Echard; great grandchildren Alecia Bowers, Danielle Wassick, Garrett, Braydon, and Morgan Wassick, Tyler and Regan Teets, Karmyn, Mason, Haydin and Jozlyn Davis, Kyndel and Elyse Kisner and Darryl Echard. Also surviving are sisters Hilda Bowers and husband Coleman and Dolly Dewitt both of Cheat Lake. She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Constante and brother Sonny Smith. Friends may call Monday Feb. 1, 2010 at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8pm and again on Tuesday from 10 am until time of services at 11am with Rev. Richard Work officiating.
