He was born July 21, 1941 to the late Harold and Sarah Marshall and grew up in Roslyn Heights, NY. He graduated from Michigan State University with two bachelor’s degrees plus a master’s degree in urban planning. There he met his wife of 54 years, Lauralee Sherwood Marshall. Peter served his community in many ways. He was president of the Morgantown Planning Commission from 1974-1986. In the 1970’s he helped to establish the county EMS. He was a long-time member of the local abandoned and delapidated housing committee. He additionally supported public schools through various volunteer activities. Peter was an active member of Suncrest United Methodist Church. He loved following West Virginia University and Michigan State University football and basketball.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lindsay Marple Lindsay and spouse Joel Lindsay, Emily Marple, Alexander Tadros, and Lauren Krantz, as well as by his brother, Richard Marshall.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Marshall.
