Goldie Rae McCartney Goldie Rae McCartney, 76 of Halleck Rd., Morgantown passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born November 29, 1936 in Morgantown, the daughter of the late William Harvey Austin and Mary Ellen Glendening Austin Kerns. She was a member of the Browns Chapel and Triune Homemakers Club, the Clinton Democratic Women's Club and the Summers United Methodist Church. She also worked as a teacher's aide at Ridgedale Elementary. She enjoyed playing bingo, quilting, being with her family and she loved her grandchildren, and was grandma to many children in the community. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Goldie is survived by her husband Eugene McCartney, sons Loyd H. McCartney and Robert E. McCartney all of Morgantown; a daughter and her husband Joyce and Randy Mapel of Grafton; Brothers Fred Austin and wife Thelma of TN., Sisters Dorothy Hicks and husband R.P. and Rosalee Robinson both of Morgantown, 2 grandsons Joshua Mapel and wife Kara of Charleston, SC and Samuel Mapel of Grafton. 3 great grandchildren, Colton, Lillian and Jayce Mapel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Flota Kincaid, Mary Thompson, Jean Peters, Vernia Stephens; Brothers Raymond Austin, Ross Austin and Clyde Morgan. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 7-9pm and again on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Charles McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Halleck Cemetery.
