Glennis (Glenn) McDilda, 84 of Martinsburg, WV, formerly of Pursglove, WV, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at McLeod Seacoast Hospital in Little River, SC while vacationing with his family in Myrtle Beach. Glenn was born May 19, 1932 in Pursglove, WV. He was the son of the late George H. and Leila V. Everett McDilda. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Alice McDilda, July 19, 2012 and they are now “Together Again.” He was a loving husband, father, and pap. He was a man of many skills from woodworking to machinist. He enjoyed working around the yard and tinkering in his garage. There wasn’t anything that he didn’t know or couldn’t do. He worked various jobs in his lifetime but most recently he retired from Walmart where he worked as a Door Greeter for 15 years. Even after his retirement he looked forward to going to Walmart and greeting customers no matter what store he was in. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, golf, game shows and last but not least, General Hospital. Glenn is survived by his son, David Glenn McDilda and wife Lori of Pursglove, WV; his daughter Donna Kay Stewart and husband Robert “Bob” of Martinsburg, WV; his grandson, David Glenn McDilda, Jr. and fiancée Stacey Hoover of Masontown, WV; and his granddaughter Melissa Jo (McDilda) Bachman and husband Tyler of Pursglove, WV.
He is also survived by one brother William R. and wife Freda McDilda, two sisters, Shirley Forbes and husband Jack and Sandra Casteel and husband Steve all of Morgantown; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles R. Himes, Jr. and wife Louise of Espyville, PA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Mary and his parents Glenn was also preceded in death by his brother, George Jr., and wife Geraldine; brother Gerald E., Sr. and wife Theirtha; brother Kenneth and wife Minnie; and brother Howard and wife Patricia as well as his in-laws, Hazel B. Hollick and Charles R. Himes, Sr. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 5-8pm and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11a.m. with the Rev. Loretta Lee officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
