Gladys W. Morris

February 16, 1929 — April 25, 2016

Gladys Wilma Rowan Morris, 87, of Cassville-Mt. Morris Rd. Morgantown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday April 25, 2016 following a brief illness. She was born February 16, 1929 in Cloverdale, PA a daughter of the late Raymond Claire and Edith Catherine Howell Rowan.

Gladys enjoyed cooking, baking, flower gardening, quilt making, reading and traveling with her family. She was a member of the Miracle Mission in Mount Morris, PA.

She is survived by three sons Raymond R. Morris (Frances) of Morgantown, Charles E. Morris, Eugene A. Morris (David Billings) of Toledo, OH; two daughters Sharon L. Jeffrey (Dwight) of Morgantown, Nancy L. Beckner (Randy) of Kingwood; 11 grandchildren Teresa Flanary (James), Marcia DeWitt (Steve), Mark Morris (Melissa), Angela Byrd (Jason), Charles “JR” Antill (Bobbi), Rachael McCormick (Todd), Misty Jeffrey, David Dezzutti (Joyce), Andrew Dezzutti (Brittany), Brandon Beckner and Holly Beckner; 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild Hunter Smith.

Also surviving Gladys are two brothers Gene Rowan of Fairmont, James Rowan of Shelton, NC; one sister Evelyn Lemasters of Morgantown; and many nieces and nephews (several of which considered Gladys their “favorite aunt”).

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Charles Henry Morris; a son Thomas Andrew Morris; five brothers Godfrey, Kenneth, Bussey, Arlen, and Raymond Rowan; three sisters Thelma Mitchell, Verna Menear, Louise Brown; and one great grandchild Angel Lynn Morris.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Amedysis Hospice, and the Nephrology Clinic at the Physician’s Office Center.

Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday April 27, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and again on Thursday from 12pm until the time of funeral services at 1pm with Pastor Fred Tomlinson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gladys’ memory to Miracle Mission Church P.O. Box 152 Mount Morris, PA 15349.
