Geraldine Almeda Smith White

Geraldine Almeda "Gerry" Smith White, 87, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Morgantown on March 15, 1929, daughter to the late Archie and Florence Kennedy Smith. Gerry graduated from Morgantown High School in 1948 and worked at the Morgantown Shirt Factory, Sterling Faucet and Morgantown Glass Factory until moving to Ohio in the summer of 1953. She retired from Kroger Bakery in Columbus, OH after 38 years of service. She moved back to WV in 1995. While in Morgantown she attended the Chaplin Apostolic Church at Chaplin Hill. She enjoyed crocheting, tending her flower garden, watching classic movies and playing Chinese checkers. Gerry is survived by husband of 63 years, Alfred Clarence White; one daughter Karen Sue (Randy) Shaner of Mt. Gilead, OH; special niece Penny Dailey of Morgantown and many other nieces and nephews. Also surviving is one sister Leone Adele Uphold of Grantsville, MD. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, June Virginia Squires; brothers-in-law, Max L. Humphreys, Clarence J. 'shorty" Squires, Russell Uphold, William Fox, Jr., John White, Ressie Guy White; sisters-in-law, Loraine Humphreys, Alberta White, Bonnie White, Margaret "Peggy" White and Louise Fox. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 5pm until 8pm and again on Thursday from noon until time of services at 1pm with Pastor Craig Falkenstine officiating.
