George Alfred Emerson

April 24, 1935 — February 11, 2013

George Alfred Emerson, 77, of Morgantown passed away Monday February 11, 2013 at the Monongalia General Hospital. He was born April 24, 1935 in Bruceton Mills, son to the late Ralph Waldo and Leona Teets Emerson. George worked a short time at Sterling Faucet but for most of his life he owned and operated Emerson Home Builders. He constructed over 100 homes in the Morgantown and surrounding areas. Although he didn't have a college education, George often commented that what he learned was from experience. He took great pride in the homes he remodeled and built. He was satisfied with his life and would do it all again. He was a member of the Harner Chapel Church. George wanted everyone to know that he was a sinner saved by grace. He loved gospel and country music. George's pride and joy was his family. He especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, which are too numerous to mention. In addition to his many grandchildren, George is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mrs. Maxine Emerson; children, Michael Mike' Emerson and wife Pauline of Milford, OH, Robin Perry and husband Jim of Morgantown; step-children, Stephen Hoskins and wife Kristina of Ephrata, PA, Douglas Hoskins and wife Lil, Gregory Hoskins and Timothy Hoskins and wife Jo all of Morgantown and Deborah Wheeler of Clarksburg. Also surviving is his brother Irvin Emerson of Carmichaels, PA; sisters, Eva Lou Metz and Frances Wolfe both of Morgantown, Goldie Rosati of OH, Louella Johnson of Morgantown and Sue Hawk of Nemacolin, PA. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one infant son; three brothers John, Herb and Eddie Emerson and one sister Jean Arnold. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Tuesday Feb. 12, 2013 from 5 to 7pm. George will lie in repose at the Harner Chapel Church on Wednesday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Rev. Rick Stackpole officiating. Burial will follow at the East Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Harner Chapel Church 100 Luckey Lane, Morgantown, WV 26501 and/or the Morgantown Dialysis Center 11 Commerce Drive, Suite 102 Westover, WV 26501
