Geneva Ann Austin McCrobie, 92, of Independence, WV passed away at her home on September 23, 2015 after a long illness. She was born on October 15, 1922, daughter to the late Charles and Etta Austin, also of Independence. She was Methodist by faith and retired from West Virginia University. Geneva was a wonderful homemaker and very devoted to her family. Geneva is survived by two grandsons; David Arron McCrobie of Florida and Eric Smith of Morgantown; great grandchildren, Kathryn McCrobie, Alexandria McCrobie and Chloe Smith; one brother, Kenneth Austin and spouse; sisters, Mary Dell Pitch, Flossie Ferne Austin, and Delores Howell and spouse. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband George McCrobie and son David Eugene, five sisters; Dorothy Austin, Frances Grimm, Virginia Strang, Betty Turner, and Jean Sanders, four brothers; Claude, Charles H. "Pete" , Raymond Ralph, and James E. "Boots" Austin. She will be greatly missed. Family and friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Friday, September 25, 2015 from 6pm until 8pm. Visitation will continue Saturday, September 26 from 10am until the time of service at 11am with Pastor Brad Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at the Halleck Cemetery.
