Fredona "Freddie" Eames Stenger, 80, of Morgantown, WV went home to the Lord on February 15, 2015. She was born August 27, 1934 to the late Charlie and Lucille (Crook) Eames of Christiansburg Va. She is survived by sons; Scott Stenger of Morgantown, WV; Eric and wife Kerry Stenger of Martinsburg WV; cherished grandsons, Kaden Charles and Gavin Cole Stenger; brother, Andrew and wife Cathy Eames of Christiansburg VA; sister, Judy and husband George Grozdits of Somerset KY. In addition to her parents, Freddie is preceded in death by sister; Bette and husband William Lane. Freddie graduated from University of Virginia with a BSN and Boston University with an MSN in Maternal and Child Health. She worked at the UVA hospital as a pediatric nurse and at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital as the pediatric Nursing Supervisor and Instructor of Pediatrics. In 1962 she joined the faculty of the WVU School of Nursing where she was one of the founding members of the university's Nursing Program. She was instrumental in developing and implementing what became a nationally acclaimed nursing curriculum, "The West Virginia Plan". She retired in 2002 after forty years of teaching at WVU. Freddie served as, president of the WV League for Nursing, regional officer of the National League for Nursing, and board member of the WV Nurses Association. She was active in The American Nurses Association, Inc., General Federation of Women's Clubs and Sigma Theta Tau International. Aside from her many professional achievements, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Morgantown, WV. A Christian, she was strong in faith and held positions in service to the Church and God. Freddie was a short term missionary in Cuba. She enjoyed travel and cherished spending time with her two grandsons. Family and friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Friday, February 20th from 2-4pm and again from 6-8pm. A memorial service in her honor will be held Saturday, February 21st at the First Baptist Church 432 High St, Morgantown at 12:00 noon. A reception will immediately follow in the basement of the church. Flowers may be sent or donations will be graciously accepted in Freddie's name by First Baptist Church of Morgantown
