Fred D. Braham

April 21, 1937 — February 29, 2024

Fred D. Braham, affectionally known as ‘Pap’ to friends and family, passed away on February 29, 2024, at Madison Center in Morgantown after a long illness. Born on April 21, 1937, in Grafton, WV, he was a beacon of light and strength in the lives of those he touched.

Fred worked as a dedicated coal miner at CONSOL Blacksville No. 1 mine, where he formed lifelong friendships. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his love for his family and the joy he took in his hobbies.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Mrs. Connie Gamble Braham, who was his partner in every sense of the word. Together, they raised three loving children: Freddie Braham, Jr., Brenda Braham Armstrong, both of Morgantown, and Kenneth (Connie) Braham of Waynesburg, PA. Fred was a proud grandfather to Roger Braham, Dan (Jessica) Tennant, and Emily (Spencer) Anderson, and a doting great-grandfather to Jack Braham, Jonathan Tennant, and Grant Anderson. His warmth extended to numerous nieces and nephews who will miss his friendly guidance.

A family man through and through, Fred could often be found taking his family on vacation, ensuring they made lifetime memories. Whether in his flourishing garden or amidst sawdust in his woodworking shop, he found his greatest happiness. Handy, friendly, and wise, Fred was the cornerstone of his family.

His legacy is carried on by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will continue to learn from the lessons he imparted. Fred, the cherished last surviving member of his original family of ten, was preceded in death by his parents, William & Pearl Shultz Braham; daughter-in-law Cynthia Braham, son-in-law Brent Armstrong, and granddaughter Brandi Braham.

Fred Braham's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends as they celebrate a life truly well-lived.

Friends and family will gather at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 4 to 8 PM and again on Tuesday from 11 AM until time of services at noon with Pastor Kevin Cain officiating. He will rest at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris, PA.

With heartfelt gratitude, Fred’s family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the dedicated staff and caregivers of the Madison Center and Amedisys Hospice for their unwavering care, compassion, and support during our loved one's final journey. Your kindness and dedication brought comfort and solace during a difficult time, and they will forever be grateful for the compassion you showed.
