Francis A. Sonny' Smyth, 76, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 9, 1938, in Morgantown son of the late Minor A. and Hallie Vannoy Smyth. Sonny graduated from Morgantown High School and held many certifications from General Motors. Sonny worked as a parts manager at Wilkins Motors, Richter Volkswagen, Anthony Chevrolet and retired from Larry Smith Buick. Sonny loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time hunting, fishing and playing golf. He was especially passionate about all things NASCAR. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. Sonny was a member of the Goshen Baptist Church. Sonny is survived by his wife of 54 years and the love of his life, Charlotte Smyth; one son Micheal Francis Smyth and wife Patricia; daughter Diann Smyth Clark; one grandson Sean Micheal Clark and wife Heather; brother Ronald Smyth; sisters, June Straight and husband Roger and Janet Fagula; brother-in-law, Junior Remley all of Morgantown and sister-in-law, Karen Smyth of Point Marion, PA. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and is his faithful canine companion Kasey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Curtis Smyth and sister Doris Remley. Honoring Sonny's wishes cremation was arranged by the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home. Friends will be received at the Goshen Baptist Church on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 11am until time of memorial service at noon with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Sonny to the Mon. County Canine Adoption Center, 243 High Street, Rm 202, Morgantown, WV 26501 and/or The Goshen Baptist Church, 1070 Goshen Road, Morgantown, WV 26508.
