Francis F. ‘Butch’ Orchard, Jr., 62 of Morgantown, died, Friday September 29, 2017 at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. He was born February 13, 1955 in Morgantown son to Nadine B. Stafford Orchard of Morgantown and the late Francis Orchard.
Butch was a 1973 graduate of University High School and enlisted into the US Army. He was honorably discharged with 12 years of service and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded during the Invasion of Grenada.
After his discharge from the service, Butch worked at various department stores in the Morgantown area, Kroger, WVU Roads and Grounds and later retired from the bakery department of Shop N Save. In his free time, he liked spending time hunting and fishing.
In addition to his mother, Butch is survived by his companion of 12 years, Jamie Leonian of Morgantown, one son, Patrick Beall; daughter Verda Riggleman and husband Danny; three grandchildren, Danielle, Tommy and Derek; one sister LuAnn Jamieson and husband Tom; nephews, Michael and Alex Jamieson; nieces, Catherine Myers and Kelly, Christina and Shannon Jamieson.
Family will receive friends at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8pm and again on Thursday from 10am until time of services at 11am. Butch will be laid to rest with full honors at the WV National Cemetery with WVANG and the Taylor County Honor Guard officiating.
