Frances Wolfe, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, in Morgantown, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 23, 1939, Frances embodied warmth and compassion throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Frances first met her late husband, Roy Lee Wolfe, Sr., while they were both working at the G.C. Murphy Company Store on High Street. What began as a simple moment, her asking to try on his new leather jacket, soon blossomed into a beautiful life together. The two were married on Christmas Day in 1956, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and family.
Her dedication to family was unwavering; she spent many years as a homemaker, pouring love into her children Roy Lee Wolfe, Jr., and his wife Linda; Sharon Wright and her husband James; and Cathy Powell.
Frances had a passion for spending time outdoors, often found on her cherished porch swing, soaking in the sunshine and listening to country music. Her fuzzy bathrobes became a familiar sight, serving as a comforting reminder of her gentle spirit. She was a selfless and loving individual, whose heart knew no judgment, always advocating for the underdog and believing that her loved ones could do no wrong in her eyes.
Frances is also survived by her grandchildren: Laura Register, Carrie Brown, Franchesca Pizzurro, Corissa Binegar, and Andrea Broughman; 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Goldie Rosati.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Leona Rebecca Teets Emerson; her husband, Roy Lee Wolfe, Sr.; her brothers John E. Emerson, Edgar W. Emerson, Herbert R. Emerson, George A. Emerson, Ervin E. Emerson, and Harold Emerson who died in infancy; her sisters Mildred Jean Arnold, Louella P. Johnson, Eva Lou Metz, and Leona S. Hawk; her beloved grandson, Domenic Roy Wolfe; and her son-in-law, Clay Powell.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to WV Caring Hospice, P.O. Box 760 Arthurdale, WV 26520 whose compassionate care and kindness meant so much to Frances and her family in her final days.
