Fannie Lorraine Davis

Fannie Lorraine Davis, passed away on February 1, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, at the home of her son, Gerald Davis.

She was born in Morgantown, on August 29, 1927, the daughter of the late Plummer and Goldie Murray Dalton.

Fannie was employed by West Virginia University Towers over 20 years. Upon her retirement she became a caregiver for many local families. She was a member of Burns Chapel Church. Fannie will be remembered for being young at heart and having a youthful spirit. She loved having the family gather at her house for Sunday dinner.

She is survived by three sons, Don Davis (Ruth), Gerald Davis (Sue), and Kenny Davis (Jessica); two daughters, Patty Dalton and Judy Sickles (Jim); a daughter-in-law, Carol Lee Davis; four sisters: Phyllis (Pip) Blosser, Lula Bell Woody, Alice Ann Murphy, and Carrie Hertzog (David); and a brother, Ronnie Gay Dalton (Jean).

Also surviving are her grandchildren: Rebecca McDonald (Davie), Lori Davis, Mellissa Gutermuth (Chad), Mike Davis (Jennifer), Mark Davis (Erica), Tiffany Fisher (Landon), Brian Dalton, Brandon Sickles (Melinda), and Amber Sickles (Joe). Great grandchildren: Nathan Davis, Heather Gillum (Sam), Timothy Davis, Grace Gutermuth, Warrick Davis, Skylar Davis, Lane and Blake Fisher, Kayla Dalton, Chloe and Bryce Sickles, Ruby and Faelen Duckworth, Travis Davis, Brenden Cardello and Nikki Baker. Great-great grandchildren: Cyleigh Davis and Emma Gillum.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Dale Davis; two sons, Edward Dale Davis and Joseph Keith Davis; three sisters, Lillie May Dalton, Loretta McFadden and Gladys Blosser; a brother, Melvin (Tinker) Dalton; a grandson, Steve Dalton; and a son-in-law, Terry Dalton.

Family and friends will be received at the Nicholson Chapel, on the Summer School road on Wednesday, February 3, from 4pm until the time of the funeral service at 11am Thursday, February 4, with, Damon Nicholson officiating. Burial will follow at the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
