Evelyn Maxine Smith, 82 of Morgantown, passed away on Tuesday November 8, 2011 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital. Evelyn was born September 17, 1929 daughter to the late Chaney B. and Emma Glaze Lindsey. Evelyn left Morgantown and traveled to Youngstown, OH and later to San Francisco, CA where she worked as a nurse for more than 20 years at the St. Luke's Hospital. She then returned back to Morgantown and made her home with her sister. She was an active member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. She sang in the church choir, taught adult Sunday school class and was a member of the Missionary Society. She was also involved in her community and volunteered at the Ruby Memorial Gift Shop. She leaves to mourn her passing, sister Emma Jackson and husband Fred of Morgantown; special niece Carolyn Perkie' Preston and husband Dick of Morgantown; nephews James S. Prude, Sr., and wife Maurice of Pittsburgh, PA and Lewis Lindsey of Morgantown and a host of other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Smith and two sisters, Sarah McCants and Cora Mae Lindsey. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Saturday from 11am until time of services at 1pm with Rev. Mary Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
