Evelyn E. Carubia

June 29, 1920 — April 21, 2014

Evelyn Carubia, 93, of Core, WV went to eternal life with the Lord on Monday April 21, 2014 surrounded by her family at her home. Evelyn was born June 29th, 1920 in Brooklyn NY. She was a homemaker, bank manager, and upon retirement, a resident of Core, WV for over 34 years. She was a long time, dedicated volunteer at the St Ursula Food Pantry, the WVUH Gift Shop and the Rosenbaum Family House. She enjoyed gardening, painting, watching golf & baseball, her great grandchildren and listening to Catholic radio. She was a parishioner at the former St Ursula's Catholic Church in Pursglove, WV and more recently at St John University Church in Morgantown, WV. Evelyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law bob and Irene Carubia of Core and her daughter and son-in-law Carole and Jimmy Intravia of Medford, NY, grandchildren Jason and Sherry Carubia, Anna and Shaun Mallory, Michael Carubia, David Carubia, Charlena Joseph, Nellie and Bill Murphy, Becky and Jason Hunt, Diane and Phil Skorupski, Adam and Jenny Intravia, Tim and Ariel Intravia, Emily Intravia and fiance Branan Whitehead and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Evelyn was known to many as GeeGee (Great Grandma). In addition to her parents William and Elizabeth, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Robert, their infant son Ronald, her brothers William and Albert, her sister Mary and her grandson-in-law Gary Joseph. She now enjoys with them the everlasting life in heaven promised by Jesus Christ. Evelyn's family extends special thanks to all who assisted in her care especially the doctors, nurses and therapists of WVU Healthcare and Care Partners Home Health. In honoring her request for cremation, family and friends will be received at St John University Church on Monday April 28, 2014 from 10AM to noon. Her family welcomes all to celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at noon. A graveside final Commendation Service and burial with her husband at St John's Catholic Cemetery in Queens, NY will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Light of Life Radio Ministry, 132 Carubia Drive, Core, WV 26541.
