Ethel Mae Neer

Ethel Mae (Jackson) Neer, 89, of Morgantown, entered into rest January 2, 2016. She was born July 29, 1926 to the late Hershel and Evelyn (Williams) Jackson.

She is survived by her daughter Patty and spouse Tim Slaughter; sons, Eugene “Junior” and spouse Kathy Neer and Woodrow “Woody” and spouse Betty Neer all of Morgantown, WV. Also surviving is brother Virgil Jackson of Morgantown and sister June Adkins of West Minister, California; grandchildren, Tricia Swiger, Chad Neer, Jill Neer, and Brent Neer; great-grandchildren, Anna, Nathan, Caleb, Aliyah, and Luke.

Ethel was employed by the Monongalia County Board of Education as a cook for over thirty years at Arnettsville Elementary school where she retired from at age 80. She enjoyed spending her time watching wildlife.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Neer Sr. three brothers, Earl, James, and Tad Jackson and four sisters, Helen Frymyer, Cathleen Drvar, Irene Nottingham, and Joann Gaskill.

Family and friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Monday, January 4th from 6pm until 8pm and again on Tuesday, January 5th from 10am until the time of service at 11am with Pastor Tim Slaughter officiating. Burial will follow at the Arnettsville Cemetery.
