Esther Shelia Harwood

Esther Shelia Harwood, a cherished mother, sister, and friend, left us peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the age of 77. She passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Esther was born on March 12, 1949, in Mannington, WV, and she lived a life dedicated to her family, nurturing her loved ones as a devoted homemaker. She was a faithful attendee of the Vision of Hope Outreach.

Esther is survived by her four sons and their spouses, Richard (Tammy) King, Michael (Tina) King, Steven (Kristie) King, and William (Robin) King; and her beloved daughter, Cynthia 'Cindy' King; grandchildren, Justin King, Amanda Ruffner, Holly Burghy, Bradley King, Johnathan King, Kyle Flanary, Caleb, Derek, and Cameron Kesner; and nine great-grandchildren.

She also leaves to cherish her memory: one brother, Harlan Hayes; sisters Dinah Cumberledge, Patricia Rogers, Debbie Triplett, Connie Zarilla, Sandra Brown, Mary Hixon, Lynn Jaggie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gail and Mary Ethel Moore Hayes; brothers, Gary, Sam, Mark, and infant Ronald.

Esther possessed a wisdom born of a lifetime of love and experience. Her generosity and caring nature touched the hearts of those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

Family and friends will gather at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 S. High Street Morgantown, WV 26501, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 2 - 4 PM & 6 - 8 PM and again on Thursday from 10 AM until services at 11 AM. She will rest at Claughton Chapel Cemetery, Waynesburg, PA.
