Elizabeth Pearl Cale

Elizabeth Pearl Cale, 78, of the Grafton Road, Morgantown, passed unexpectedly, following a brief illness on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the Mon Health Medical Center. She was born in Terra Alta, WV, on March 6, 1944, to John C. Walls and Helen Smouse Walls Peters.

Elizabeth worked as a waitress at Mundy's and other various jobs before finding a career as a seamstress with the Morgan Shirt Factory for 18 years and later with United Linen Services of WVU where she would continue until her death with more than 42 years of service.

She had a vivacious personality and a lot of grit. She said what she meant and meant what she said. Rarely did she pull punches or mince words. Her tenacious character would often come off as crass or curt, but she saw the world as she saw it; no if, and's, or buts about it. If she loved you, you knew it; if she didn't care for you, you knew that too! She was loyal and devoted to her career and was not looking forward to retirement.

She has mended, stitched, sewed, tacked, pinned, and hemmed almost everything you could imagine. Though she didn't offer her services for hire, she kept busy with her two boys growing up, patching and fixing their clothing when needed. She genuinely loved her work and was very talented.

Elizabeth was a beloved mother to her two sons, Rodney L. (Kimberly) Cale, Sr., of Morgantown, and Bobby J.(Kathleen) Cale of Calhoun, GA; three grandchildren, Robert Charles Cale, Rodney (Nikki) Cale, Jr., and Mathew Cale all of Morgantown.

She was one of 12 siblings and two step-siblings and was preceded by her parents, John and Helen, and her husband, Bobby Cale.

Friends may call at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 2 – 4 PM & 6 – 8 PM, and again on Thursday, June 30, from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
