Edward O’Donnell, 95 of Osage passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Sundale Nursing Home. Edward was born November 19, 1920 in Pittsburgh, PA. Edward spent most of his life in Pennsylvania, where he met and married his beloved wife Mary Lou McFadden O’Donnell on July 25, 1970, who was his soul mate for 46 years.
Edward worked at Pennhurst Hospital in Spring City, PA for 13 years. He loved playing the base horn, the drums and was quite the basketball player. He was faithful fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and to the WVU Mountaineers. He was Catholic by faith and attended St. Ursula’s Catholic Church.
Edward entered Sundale nursing home in 2007 where he has spent the last 10 years under the care of the administration, doctors, nurses and the staff of Sundale. Edward’s care was remarkable at Sundale and greatly appreciated. Very special thanks to Donna Tennant, Mary Tennant, Amy Hawkins, Dawn Proietti, Monica McDonald, Anne Harris, Laura Pingley, Leigh Ann Demick, Cindy Nelson and Cynthia Bolyard.
Edward is survived by his wife Mary Lou O’Donnell; five nephews, Jim Matlick, Robert Coulter, Virgil Coulter, David Coulter and Charles Coulter; one niece Mary Jane Coulter and several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the Osage community, where he spent several years prior to entering Sundale.
In keeping Edward’s wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of life service will be held at 12:30pm May 7, 2016 at the Scotts Run Museum in Osage, WV.
