Edward Elisha Dale

February 15, 1942 — March 8, 2013

Edward Elisha Dale, 71, of Morgantown, WV, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 8, 2013 at the Sundale Nursing Home. He was born February 15, 1942 in Cassville, WV son to the late Jesse R. and Mary V. Barnes Dale. Edward graduated from University High School in 1959 and served in the US Army, Co. A. 122 Sig. Bn. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. He also was a 32 Degree Mason and member of the Mt. Moriah No. 11 F & AM, P.H.A., Pass Worthy Patron of Rebecca No. 18 OES. He was a retired coal miner from CONSOL, Humphrey No. 7 and warehouseman of Pursglove No. 8 shop. Edward loved traveling in his RV. He was a member and treasurer of the Roxies Ramblers of Pittsburgh, PA, member of the Family Motor Coach Association, Inc. and National African American RVers Association, Inc. until he became ill. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rev. Claudette Yvonne McDonald Dale; one son, Brian Todd Washington of Pittsburgh, PA; two step-children, James Howard Houston and wife Julia, Willette LaVerne Houston all of Morgantown, WV. He was known and loved as Pappy' to seven grandchildren, Stephan Mikhail Washington of Pittsburgh, PA, Theodore Bryce Houston and wife Danielle of Orlando, FL, Brytnei Alyese Houston, Jonathan David Houston, Adam Taylor Johnson, Jr., Keenon Allen Washington, and Myles Everette Patterson all of Morgantown, WV; one great grandson and name sake, whom he called Little Ed' Caymon Edward Jackson of Morgantown, WV; his long-time friend Stanley Dixon of Charleston, WV; special Aunt Nettie Goods of Verona, PA; three sisters-in-law Conzolla F. Dobbs of Morgantown, WV, Carolyn Burns and husband William of Washington, DC, and Anita McDonald of Jamestown, NY. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Donald Leon Dale and his favorite pet Chihuahua, Princess Liquita, who is waiting in the meadow by the rainbow bridge. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 South High Street Morgantown, WV 26501, on Thursday March 14, 2013 from 6-8pm and again on Friday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Rev. Clifford Carter officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with military rites conducted by WVANG Camp Dawson and Westover VFW Post 9916.
