Edith Luella Austin

Edith L. Austin, 86, of Unity Manor, Morgantown passed away Monday September 16, 2013 at her home. She was born May 10, 1927 in Morgantown daughter to the late Albert and Elizabeth Kerns. Edith worked many years as a custodian and retired from WVU. She was also an active volunteer in the community for various soup kitchens. She enjoyed various types of crafts and spending time with her faithful canine companion Diamond. She is survived by her five children, son, Donald Austin and wife Roberta of Maryland, daughter Barbara Trader and husband Jim of Star City, daughter Linda Straight of Morgantown, son Wayne Austin and wife Michelle of Kingwood, WV and daughter Donna Kisner and husband Larry of Morgantown; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Gladys Howell of Morgantown, Marie Hildreth of Clarksburg and Helen Wilhelm of Core. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harvey Ross Austin and four brothers, Lawrence, Lloyd, Willis and Charles Kerns. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday September 18, 2013 from 3 to 5 & 7 to 9pm. Honoring Edith's wishes cremation will follow. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
