Dr. Isaac Carles Aurelio

Dr. Isaac C. Aurelio, "Ike" 87, died at his home at 3524 Grafton Road, Morgantown, WV on August 29, 2017 in the company of his family. Born in Isabella, Negros Occidental, Philippines, he experienced WWII as a child having lost his war hero father and brother, as well as a sister and their family home during that time. At the age of 19, he came to the US to study Biology at Ottawa University in Kansas; obtained a MS degree in Entomology at Penn State; a PhD in Biology at West Virginia University and MD at Western Visayas University in Iloilo, Philippines. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States and was very proud of both his heritage and his new country. Dr. Aurelio was a professor at Alderson Broaddus University having taught many nursing, physician assistant, medical technology and biology majors. As a second career, he worked in the WVU Pathology Department for 12 years. His hobbies included golf, travel and collecting mosses, the subject of his dissertation in 1974. A lifelong American Baptist, he was a member of the Goshen Baptist Church and faithfully sang tenor in church choirs, quartets and performed solos. He will be missed by his children: Victoria and Tom Urbanowski of Houston, Andrew and Kimberly Aurelio with whom he made his home in Morgantown, Mark and Kimberly Spencer Aurelio of Charleston; Grandchildren: Nathan Wilson, Alyssa and William Urbanowski, Peyton, Samuel, Gabriel and Avery Aurelio; and former wife of 27 years, mother of his sons, Shauna Lively. As well as numerous extended family and friends in the US and in the Philippines. Dr. Aurelio was preceded in death by his parents Catalino and Anita Carles Aurelio; seven brothers and sisters; and former wife, mother of his daughter, Leah Cline of Kerville, Texas. A celebration of his life, well lived, will be at the Goshen Baptist Church, Goshen Road, Morgantown, WV Sunday, September 3 at 1:00 in the afternoon.
