Dr. Daniel Paul Doc' Solomon, 82 of Morgantown passed away Monday November 22, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born August 7, 1928 in Morgantown the son of the late Frank and Julia Gudish Solomon. After graduating from University High School, Doc enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany as an MP from 1951-1952. He was honorably discharged in 1957. He graduated from WVU in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, attended Oklahoma State and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture in 1961 and in 1963 graduated with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Oklahoma State Center for Veterinary Health Sciences. While actively operating the family farm, Doc practiced veterinary medicine in and around the tri-county area for more than 30 years. He doctored all types of animals large and small. He served as the Monongalia County Vet for several years. Doc is survived by his son Steven Solomon and wife Mary Kay of Morgantown; daughter Dr. Laura Hummel and fianc Dr. John Morgan of Lexington, KY; three granddaughters Jennifer Caradine and husband Matt of Morgantown, Tina Guschel of Willow Springs, NC and Angie Sutton and husband Adam of Willow Springs, NC. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren; two brothers Jim Solomon and wife Alice Elsie' of Morgantown, Eddie Solomon and wife Joann of Riverside, CA; two sisters Virginia Smerdell of Rialto, CA and Helen Knouse of Granville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home Tuesday November 23, 2010 from 6-8pm. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family with military rites provided by the Morgantown VFW Post 548.
