Douglas Lee Wise

October 20, 1932 — June 22, 2014

Douglas Doug' Lee Wise, 81, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday June 22, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 20, 1932 in Morgantown son of the late George and Julia Jenkins Wise. Doug started his career as a coal miner at the age of 16. After 45 years of dedicated service he retired in 1992, from the Consol Osage #3 mine. He was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling, mowing grass and splitting wood. He also enjoyed camping at Shenandoah and spending time at his cabin in Parsons, WV. Most of all Doug was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Doug is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Helen Wise; children Robert and Judy Wise, Diana and August Canale, Richard and Linda Wise, Deloris and Rodney Gardner, Debra and Steve Cottrell, Justin and Autumn Wise, and Jessica Wise; daughter-in-law Sandra Wise; brothers George Wise, Emmitt Wise; sister Jean Wilson; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Douglas Mike' Wise; twin brother Donald Wise; brother Charles Wise; paternal grandparents Dave and Minnie Wise; and maternal grandparents Henry and Annie Jenkins. Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Thursday June 26, 2014 from 7-9pm, on Friday from 3-5pm and 7-9pm, and again on Saturday from 10am until the time of funeral services at 11am with Rev. Edward Craft officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Union Cemetery.
