Douglas H. Ayersman

Devoted husband and father, Douglas H. Ayersman, 81, of Morgantown passed away on Saturday March 19, 2016 at his home. Douglas was born in New Castle, PA on August 24, 1934, son of the late Paul and Lavada Shisler Ayersman.

Douglas was a graduate of University High School and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He spent a total of eight years with the USMC achieving the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1957.

Douglas owned and operated Ayersman Brother’s Construction for more than 40 years.

Douglas had many interests including gardening and was an avid fan of both the Mountaineers and Steelers. He loved to cook for the family each Sunday. Having family near was very important to him.

Douglas is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rebecca Feather Ayersman; two daughters, Rebecca Gwinn and Retha Rienke; two sons, Matthew Ayersman and John Ayersman; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Phillip Ayersman and sister Donna Kusich.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Ruth Ann Ayersman and a son Mark Ayersman.

Friends are invited to the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 4pm until 8pm and again on Wednesday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Pastors Allen and Joseph Donham officiating. Douglas will be laid to rest at the WV National Cemetery with military rights conducted by USMC, and Taylor County Honor Guard.
