Dorsie Emmit Bolyard, 73, of Morgantown, died peacefully with his family by his side on Monday November 19, 2012 at WVU's Ruby Memorial Hospital. Dorsie was born on April 11, 1939 in Marquess, WV to the late Dorsie Britton Bolyard and Nona Madge Hershman Bolyard. He graduated from Fellowsville High School in 1957. He married his high school sweetheart, Eris Bolyard in 1958. They resided in Morgantown where he worked for Kenneth Bolyard Construction from 1957 to 1967. He was employed by Consolidated Coal Company as a block mason from 1967 to 1994. Dorsie was a craftsman and always expected perfection in everything he did. He spent countless hours helping family, friends, and his community. After retirement he continued to enjoy his family, friends, home, gardening, camping, his favorite chair and his old faithful pickup truck. As the years passed, Dorsie prided himself in learning all the details of his many health conditions and would usually tell the doctors what was wrong. He was also quite the self-proclaimed lawyer, as he watched countless hours of daily judge episodes. He was a member of Johnsons Chapel Church and the Reedsville United Methodist Church. He also attended Granville United Methodist Church. He is survived by his beloved wife Eris of 54 years; two daughters and one son and spouses, Janice and Brad Cunningham, Jeff and Penni Bolyard, and Julie and Chip Helms; eight grandchildren Reilly and Evan Cunningham, Whitney, Danielle, and Nicolette Bolyard, Rachel, Hannah, and Emily Helms; three great grandchildren Adonte and Ayden Shepherd and Natira Harvey; sisters Edith Pysell, Norma Cooper, Karen Wiles, Allinda Maxon, Becky Hardesty, Dottie Langdon, and Shirley Tribbie; two brothers Hayward and Donald Bolyard; and numerous spouses of siblings, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dorsie was preceded in death by his siblings Corey Alice Bolyard, Carl Bolyard, Raymond Bolyard, Ethel Hershman, Elaine Law, and Kenneth Bolyard. Family and friends may call Friday November 23, 2012 at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 12pm-3pm and 5-7pm and again on Saturday from 10am until the time of funeral services at 11am with Dr. Rev. Gary Helms officiating. Immediately following the service the procession will proceed to Mt. Zion Cemetery in Marquess, WV where a viewing will be held from 1pm to 2pm in the church for those friends and family close to his final resting place. Burial will follow.
