September 6, 1933 — June 9, 2012

Surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy Margaret Lewis Pyles departed this world on June 9, 2012 at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born to Mildred Mae Holbert Lewis and Denver Dix Lewis on September 6, 1933. Dorothy began her professional life as an operator for C&P Telephone Company where she met her husband of 25 years, Caleb Franklin "Frank" Pyles. Dorothy loved swimming, Halloween and birthdays. She also enjoyed Christmas Santas and taking photographs. She was an avid animal lover and served as Vice President of the Monongalia County Humane Society for many years, answering the phone for them, going on some rescues and fostering many stray, unwanted or mistreated animals. She was also immensely interested in genealogy and put in years of rigorous research and compiled volumes of genealogical data. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Frank. Surviving her are her daughters and son and their families: Erin Pyles Webb; Caleb Martin "Kip" Pyles and wife Victoria Cross Pyles; Leigh Anne Pyles Keener and husband Jay Mace Keener - all of Morgantown.
