Dorcas R. Kussart Davis

December 27, 1932 — February 19, 2016

Dorcas R. Kussart Warner Harbert Davis, 83, of the Cheat Neck community passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Madison Center, Morgantown. She graduated from University High School in 1951. She attended Morgantown Business College in 1952, and worked in the English department before starting college full time in 1957. She earned her BS in Elementary Education in 1961 and her Master of Arts in Special Education in 1967, after which she taught in Uniontown, PA for four years then moved to the Albert-Gallatin area school district and retired after 39 years of teaching.

Dorcas campaigned to get the public service to provide water to the Cheat Neck community and then served on the Cheat Neck Public Service District water board. She was a substitute driver for Meals on Wheels for many years until her health would no longer permit. She served on the Cheat Neck Advisory Health Board for planning under the county planning committee; served on the Monongalia County Health Board; was a past chairman of the Monongalia County GOP for two years; served on the Committee for the Celebration of America; served as Regent for the Col. Zackquill Morgan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for three terms. She was Central District Director for State DAR and State Good Citizenship Chairman. She was a member of the Monongahela Valley Chapter of the Daughters of American Colonists and she was the state Chaplin for the DAC and Regent for the local chapter. She was a member of the Cheat Lake United Methodist Church, a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post 9916 of Westover and a member of the American Legion Post 13 of Bridgeport.

She is survived by her first husband, William Warner of Naples, FL; sister Frances Baliker of Morgantown; one niece Willa Marie ‘Dolly’ Cupp and husband Charlie; two nephews William Edward Kussart and wife Alfreda, Danny Baliker and wife Kathy all of Morgantown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Kussart and Willa Mae Ingram Kussart; her second husband James Edward Harbert in 2001 and third husband William Charles Davis in 2011; one brother Ralph Edward Kussart and two sisters Barbara Jane Kussart and Olive Louise Kussart.

Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Monday, February 21, 2016 from 4pm until 8pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 1pm with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.

Burial will follow at the Zion Cemetery, Sunset Beach Road, Cheat Lake.
