Donna Jean Fata

January 18, 1937 — May 24, 2016

Donna Jean ‘Nanny’ Fata, 79, of Cassville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at her home surrounded by family. Donna was born in Cassville daughter to the late George and Gladys Carr Hellyer.

Donna was very involved in her community helping so many and volunteering for various organizations in the area. She was one of the founding members of the St. Ursula's Food Pantry and Outreach Center in Pursglove, WV. She grew up in the Cassville area and attended St. Ursula’s Catholic Church. She most recently attended St. John’s University Parish.

Beyond the care and concern given to so many, Donna spent countless summers camping with close friends at Shenandoah which she considered one of her favorite activities and where she built many cherished memories.

She also enjoyed many social events with close friends, and could be out dancing or playing cards on any given weekend. Donna's house was often a focal point where friends, family and neighbors gathered.

Family was a high priority for Donna or 'Nanny,' as she was better known. Years ago, she would often be seen running to and from ball practice and dance lessons. It wasn’t unusual to see most of the other neighborhood children riding alongside her own.

In recent years, Donna treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Donna is survived by one son, Anthony ‘Tiger’ Fata and wife Vickey of Morgantown; one daughter, Andrea Jo Fata of Alexandria, VA; four grandchildren, Trista (Joe) Pervola, Erica Riley and fiancé Adam, Anthony Michael Fata and fiancée Adrianna all of Morgantown and Jessica (John) Wallace of Grafton; great grandchildren, Madan, Shyann, Briston, Joseph, Maleah, Brantley and Ava. Also surviving is one brother Tom (Irene) Hellyer and sister, Martha Hellyer all of Morgantown.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Fata and one brother, Jim Hellyer.

Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 4pm until 8pm and again on Saturday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Rev. Fr. Jeremiah Lange officiating. Donna will be laid to rest beside her husband at the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
