Donna Lee Day

Donna Lee Shaffer Day, age 93, of Morgantown, WV passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born in Fairmont, WV, she was the daughter of the late Louis Ray and Jesse Gertrude Shaffer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Donald Day.

Donna is survived by her three children, Diana Day (Richard) Lucas, David Day (Florance “Flo” Watson), and Deborah Day (Edward) Reese; grandchildren, Leann Lucas, Steven (Bobbie) Reese, Daniel (Jessica) Reese, Michael (Briana) Reese, Stephanie Day (Hunter) Walker, Allison Day (Read) Williford; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Donna worked as a secretary for WVU College of Business & Economics where she retired from after close to 25 years. She was a very active member of the Riverside Methodist Church and previously a member of the Spruce Street Methodist Church. Donna was also a member of the West Side CEO’s Club where she served as Treasurer.

In her free time, she enjoyed square dancing and polka with her friends. Donna also enjoyed reading, playing the piano, and sewing for her family, even sharing some of these skills with others.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Harmony of Morgantown for their loving care and continued support.

Friends and family are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 5PM – 8PM on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 and again on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM with Pastor Jim Weber officiating. Donna will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
