Donis Murdock

Donis M. Murdock, age 87, of 316 Heritage Point, Morgantown WV, passed away on Friday, August 2, after a brief illness. Born Dec 30, 1936, to Eldred and Gertrude Stoneking Morris of Garards Fort PA, she was one of eight children.

She attended Garards Fort Elementary school, Mapletown High School, and graduated from Waynesburg College with a degree in elementary education.

In 1959, she married Harry Murdock, Jr of Waynesburg, PA, settling on the Murdock family farm, working first as a substitute teacher in Kirby, PA and later the Southeastern Greene School district before retiring after 25 years. After retiring, she volunteered for several years at Rosenbaum Family House in Morgantown, WV, and worked part-time at the local Sears in Morgantown Mall.

Donis was a longtime member of, and pianist for, the Fordyce United Methodist Church and attended Suncrest United Methodist Church upon moving to Morgantown, WV.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2019 and her brother, Arnold Morris.

She is survived by son Gary Murdock, of Morgantown, WV and daughter Lisa Murdock of Bethel Park, PA. In addition, she is survived by siblings Alice Taylor and Glenda (Tony) Donnelly of Wilmington, DE; Floris (Robert) Steinruck of Gordonville, PA; Huston Morris (Cherie) of Latrobe, PA; Ronald Morris of McMurray, PA; and Delora Jeffries of Huntsville, AL.

Services will be held on Thursday, August 8th, at Fred L Jenkins Funeral Home in Morgantown, WV, at 11:30 AM with visitation at 10:30 AM.
