Donald Ray Rose

Donald “Don” Ray Rose, 61, of Core, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Mon Health Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones. Donald was born in Morgantown on January 3, 1961, to the late Donald Sr. and Jane Rose.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Kim Rose; daughter Amber Rose-Thorne (Justin) of Morgantown; son Travis (Stacey) Rose of Core; one brother Gary Rose of Fairmont and his beloved grandchildren, Landen & Zoey Thorne and Dayton & Cason Rose.

Donnie, as he was known to most of his friends and family, started his career as an automotive mechanic but retired as a Surface Electrician/Fan Attendant in the mines. He served for more than 40 years. He was a proud UMWA member and attended the Jakes Run Assembly of God.

He was often found at his grandson’s sporting events sitting quietly but keeping stats as a proud pap would. He couldn’t have been any prouder of his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were both of his parents and his loving mother-in-law Thelma (Jean) McCabe.

Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 2 PM until the time of services at 5 PM, with Pastor Rob Bennett officiating. Cremation will follow with a private inurnment ceremony at a later date.
