Dewey Ellsworth Pounds

Dewey E. Pounds, 79, of Pounds Hollow Road, Morgantown, WV entered into eternal Glory on May 7, 2016. He gained his wings at his home that he and his family built. He was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. He was born April 2, 1937, the son of the late William and Phoebe Jane Pounds.

Dewey was a loving husband, father, grand-pappy, and friend to many. He was a hard working family man and a plumber by trade. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and loved hunting, fishing, and racing 4x4 mud trucks.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley L. Pounds; four daughters, Anita (Ray) Zybell, Bonnie (Perry) Perine, Clara Pounds, and Donna (Bliss) Mayle; seven grandchildren, Heather (Brad) Belanger, Perry (Jessica) Perine Jr, Jonathan (Leah) Perine, Crystal Wolfe, Adam Mayle, and Derrick and Aaron Pounds; six great-grandchildren, Savanna and Sahara Belanger, Hayle and Nevaeh Perine, and Orien Pyles and Vella Gutherie; sisters Ocie Dalton, Loretta Gillium, Bessie Gooding, and Charlotte Dusenberry.

In addition to his parents, Dewey is preceded in death by his brothers, Barkley Jake and Ernie Pounds; sisters, Margaret Richards, Rosa Uphold, Ruth Ann Austin, Mary Dalton, and Betty Gibson.

Family and friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 11th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Visitation will continue, Thursday, May 12th from 10am until the time of service at 11am with Pastor Dave Hood officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
