Della May Barnett

Della May Barnett, 89 of Brookhaven passed away Wednesday February 23, 2011 at her home. She was born March 12, 1921 in Adrian, WV a daughter to the late James and Martha Gregory Claypole. After settling in Monongalia County, Della was instrumental in the development of the Brookhaven area. She worked many years as a nurse's aide at Sundale Nursing Home. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Kirk and husband Charles of Merritt Island, FL and Delores Hovatter of Morgantown; sons James Barnett and wife Barbara and Delbert Barnett, Jr., and wife Goldie all of Morgantown; daughter-in-law Mina Barnett of Shellsburg, PA; numerous step children; one brother Eugene Claypole of Morgantown and two sisters Ruby Everly of Zanesfield, OH and Sylvia Claypole of Morgantown. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Delbert Barnett; one son Donald Barnett; four brothers, Russell Claypole, Ralph Claypole, Frenchie Claypole and Johnnie Claypole and one sister Mable Dafonzo. Friends may call at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home on Friday February 25, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8pm and again on Saturday from 10am until time of services at 11am with Pastor Jim Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
