Debra Leanne Powell

Debra Leanne Powell passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on August 24, 1951, she was the cherished daughter of the late Delbert Duane Royce and Mary Abigail Woodford.

Debra was a woman of many talents and a familiar face in community. She enjoyed a career as a realtor and also worked with organizations like BOPARC and Borg Warner Chemicals. Music was an important aspect of Debra’s life as she spent many years as a church pianist at the Church of God. An avid fan of Jeeps, Debra loved the tradition of collecting the little rubber ducks that Jeep enthusiasts place on dashboards—a small joy that brought her and other Jeep enthusiasts many smiles.

Debra’s memory will be carried on by her husband, Donnie Powell; her children, Matthew Powell, Kimberly Sandora (Patrick), and Amanda Powell Hunt; and her brother, David Royce. She was predeceased by her sister, Charlene Royce. She was also the proud grandmother of Anna, Gabriella, and Adalynn Powell, Alexis Wahlenmayer (Dominiq), Owen Hunt, and Andrew Hunt. She leaves behind her niece Julia and husband Ben Magrone, along with great-nieces Jessica and Carley, and a large extended family of cousins in the Bruceton Mills and Pisgah areas.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, beginning at 2 PM, with a service to follow at 4 PM. Debra will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.
