David Earl Twigg, 85, of Morgantown passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born May 17, 1931 in Morgantown son of the late Harry and Rella Opal Provence Twigg.
David was a graduate of University High School class of 1949. David enlisted in the US Army where he became an Airborne Ranger, Second Company during the Korean Conflict and served from 1949 and was honorably discharged in 1953 with highest commendations. Upon returning home from the service he attended Allied Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL where he received his degree in engineering. He then worked as a design engineer at Fisher Body, General Motors in Willow Springs, IL; Kraft Foods, where he was the lead designer for pizza ovens that are in use today. He retired from General Electric as an Engineer, Supervisor/Manager in 1995.
While working in Chicago he was very active in the ministry. He held a Christian worker’s license and served with the Glad Tidings mission around the Chicago area that ministered to gangs and skid row. Eventually, life would take him to Maryland where he started his Upper Room Coffee House Ministry, and was a Deacon at Calvary Assembly of God. Retirement would bring him home to Morgantown where he continued his prison ministry and was active at the Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle, Mt. Morris, where he led the men’s and nursing home ministries.
David loved the outdoors and was an avid bow hunter. He had a love for the Lord and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone that crossed his path. Having family near was of great importance and time spent with grandchildren was always a priority.
David is survived by his wife of 22 years Mrs. Felicia Abate Twigg, of Morgantown; four children, Robert Twigg, of Fort Worth, TX, Rev. Rebecca Johnston of Marriottsville, MD, David Twigg, of Ellicott City, MD and Bill Twigg of Manchester, MD; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Marjorie Faye Bissett Twigg and one sister Rita Jean Twigg Kennedy.
Friends may call at the Mt Morris Gospel Tabernacle, 103 School Road, Mt. Morris, PA 15349 on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 11am until time of services at 1pm with Pastors John Jackson and Fred Tomlinson officiating. David will be laid to rest on Monday June 20, 2016 at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville, MD at 1pm with full military rites conducted by the Maryland National Guard Honor Guard.
